Choosing the right size bandana for your dog is important for both comfort and style. Our crochet dog bandanas are slip on bandanas, designed to slide easily over your dog’s existing collar. This means the bandana does not tie around your dog’s neck and does not replace the collar - it simply sits on it.

How Slip Over the Collar Bandanas Work
- these bandanas slide over your dog’s collar,
- the collar is threaded through buckles in the back of the bandana,
- once on, the bandana rests comfortably on your dog’s chest.
Because of this design, collar width and bandana size are more important than neck circumference.

SMALL
Best suited for small dogs and puppies.

This size works well for smaller frames where a large bandana might look bulky or hang too low.
LARGE
Ideal for medium to large dogs.
- Fits collar up to 3 cm wide
- bandana width: 30 cm
- bandana height: 20 cm
This size provides better coverage and proportion for bigger dogs, giving a balanced and stylish look.
How to Choose the Right Size of a Slip On Dog Bandana
1. Check your dog’s collar width.
Both Small and Large bandanas fit standard collars up to 3 cm wide. Please note that if the collar is 'bulky', it may be harder to get it on.
2. Consider your dog’s size and build
Smaller dogs usually look best in size small. Medium to large dogs are better suited to size large.
You also have to consider your dog’s neck circumference. For example: if your dog’s neck measures 27 cm, pick size small. If your dog's neck measures 34 cm, may be that size large will be a better fit (consider the height of bandana; for French Bulldogs I would recommend size small 😉).
3. Think about the look you want
- snug, subtle look → choose size small
- bold, statement look → choose size large
If your dog is between sizes, sizing up is often recommended for better coverage and comfort - keep in mind your dog's height. If bandana is too long, it may lead to tripping over it while walking. In this case, size down.
